The Mole People

I recently searched the web about the “Mole People”, homeless people who live in the underground of New York City. This topic became popular through the book “The Mole People: Life in the Tunnels Beneath New York City” by Jennifer Toth. While searching, I came across three interesting pieces of information:

• Apparently the book has some of the facts wrong: “Fantasy in The Mole People” by Joseph Brennan diligently points out where.


• J.B. has a lot of interesting information on abandoned NYC subway stations.


• A much more authentic book might be “Living at the Edge of the World: A Teenager's Survival in the Tunnels of Grand Central Station”, Tina S. and Jamie Pastor Bolnick. The author has actually been one of the Mole People for several years.
